Then I applied a 20% 0ff coupon code. The order had to total $100 to get the 20% so I threw in a package of shop towels.

Ignition Coil Question

Anyone know if the 6v Bosch ignition coils are the same as the pre 1967 Volkswagen 6v coils? They look identical.
Just curious because I saw some VW Bosch coils on sale for a good price.

Re: Dyna Ignition Problem

OK, Sounds like my best bet for diagnosis is to see if anyone in the area has some spare coils I can borrow...or if not just buy some cheap used ones on ebay. Re: Dyna Ignition Problem

Thanks for your input. A couple of things... As long as the engine is running, it is not cutting out. Instead, if I turn the engine off, it won't start back up again until it sits for a while. Also, I am getting the same symptoms on both sides. It will spark once, maybe twice then nothing. Would thi...

Re: Dyna Ignition Problem

Been a busy winter but returning to this problem now. It starts up fine when cold. Plenty of spark but if I ride for a while, shut down, then try to start up again there is no spark on either plug. 15-20 minutes later after the bike has cooled off a bit, it will start again. What could cause the Dyn...

Re: Dyna Ignition Problem

Thanks for the advice, I will check the backing plate. As far as switching back to points goes...unfortunately, there was an electronic ignition on the bike when I bought it. It went bad and I put the Dyna on about 5 years ago.

Re: Dyna Ignition Problem

Yes, I was grounding the plugs on the fins. I opened the timing cover and it looked dry. Coils did not appear to be wet either.
