I didn't think you could surface dye rubber after it has been vulcanized, even a little bit. There are some coating available you could put over the rubber. Silicone mixed with carbon black comes to mind.

For the effort you are willing to put into this, why not cast your own grips? You could probably put a mold together for <$100 or so. 3-piece silicone material. You could get exactly what your hand requires and have total control over the way the grip feels.
