Sorry to dig up an old post but I always like to post fix details.
I ordered a set of BMW throttle cables, as the consensus was everything else was OK. I compared them to the pattern Venhill cables I had fitted previously on the workbench. Although the length of the outer cable was the same, crucially the inner wire was about 7mm longer on the pattern part than the BMW part.
Fitting the OEM cables has transformed the feel of the bike. Everything feels as it should now, with tiny amounts of free play that I can control.
The cables I had previously were Venhill cables purchased from Motobins. These turned out to be a waste of money, so avoid.

I love the ST, I'm absolutely thrilled with it. It has extra speed and acceleration, but the best things are the ergonomics like the riding position and the seat (very comfortable) and the way it just glides over bumps in the road in a way my RS cannot and never had. It's about 30 kilos lighter but feels lighter than that. I'd definitely recommend these bikes, more so than I would the new boxers.
The fairing is much smaller but offers good protection, but nowhere near as good. When it's hot I prefer it, when cold I don't.
But I'm emotionally engaged with the RS in a way I'll never be with the ST, and I still love riding the RS. It feels a bit odd going from one to the other in the first few miles though.

I loved the ST from the first ride. For me it was the ideal platform. I liked it more than the R90S and R100S, which I really liked both of them.
Ask the Indians what happens when you don't control immigration.
