I'll put some ht leads in the post with the other bits.
My previous bike wouldn't idle. The seller couldn't sort it at all, so he sold it. I bought it, after noticing the plug caps were strange and very old. Off chance that was the problem. As soon as he left, they were changed over and it idled beautifully. I got lucky.
Remember Mick, came down for a ride once? His Duke 900ss ran like a dog. It was a spark plug cap.
So, it's possible it might be a problem area.

BMW's require the correct lead with resistance built into the cap end. Early bikes require 1K ohm and newer require 5k ohm. I would get leads from a BMW spares source. Since you have so little miles on the bike since the replacement of the rings and would give them a chance to bed in a bit. I have heard that during break in one should vary the RPMs a lot more and refrain from keeping a constant speed/RPM.
I would crank the idle up a bit too, my chokes always stick and I have to manually make sure they are against the stop with my fingers at the carburetor.
