Job is done, I will be picking the bike up on Tuesday. They did install the circlip on the output shaft and said everything looked very good. Can't wait to get her back, Spring is almost here!!

Was it under a thousand bucks?

I wish. The total bill was $1466. The job was not only the transmission bearings, but also to cut the groove in the output shaft, install the circlip, installation of a new rear main seal, check and inspection of the oil pump, and the installation of a new throw out bearing. I was anticipating a rather tall bill with the machine work on the output shaft. Hopefully the job will last for another 120,000 miles. I will post more information once I get her back.

Rebel, can you tell from the bill what the cost of the trans rebuild would be without the labor to R & R the trans?

Hi George,
I can't yet, I won't have the bill until I pick it up. Once I see the itemized charges for the service, I will be happy to post them.

Thanks, Rebel this is a big help to me. Looks like he only charged you for 5 bearings, I wonder which one he didn't replace.????

You're welcome George.
From my understanding all of the bearings in the transmission were replaced, as well as the throw out bearing for the clutch. Hopefully everything will be fine for a while after this.

Did the shop suggest an oil change after a few hundred miles?

Hi Duane,
They did not suggest that since no other changes were made. I plan on at the very least dropping the fluid to check the magnet on the drain plug for any signs of metallic paste.
