I have that saved as a word document. Easy enough to copy and paste from a web page.

Yeah I just did it too. Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C, and then go to your Word document and Ctrl+V. It held the formatting nicely.

Update....it was the diode board. Finally got around to it this morning. Found a good used one and installed it. Started the bike and the volts ran up to around 13.35. Good deal. Thanks for the help.

New thing here with generator light coming on a bit. Idle volts show 12.50 on Klein volt meter. At revs, volts at battery climbs to 13.75. At idle there is no generator light showing, but when revving or riding there is a fair red color to the generator light above idle. Turn on the blinkers and the generator light goes from dull to brighter along with the flash. Scratching my head. Ideas? Thanks.

Same thing happened to me. It was the diode board. Did you check the used one prior to installation? More info here: http://jhau.maliwi.de/mot/r-elec.html#diodes

This has gone well past procrastination here....I've been riding the R100RS while the /7 has been garaged, up until today. I sure miss riding the old bike and need to get it back to snuff.

Today being a sunny 60ºf, I finally pulled the diode board and did Rob Franham's test on it. The board checked out just fine. I replace the 3phase wires with new replacements (from the stator to the diode board). Grounds and connectors cleaned and coated. Put it all back together and fired the bike up. Upon revs to 4k, the handheld voltmeter climbs to 13.5 volts, which is good; but the generator light still will glow quite a dull red at that rpm. There is no glow at all at idle. Course, when the ignition is turned on the idiot light is brilliant red.

Is this 'dull red' idiot light just something I need to just get used to, or is there something else going on? Again, within the past 1,000 miles, I installed a new rotor, regulator, brushes and diode board. There was no glow at speed on the generator light and charging has always been good.
Thanks for any ideas.

You said "...but the generator light still will glow quite a dull red at that rpm" and also "There was no glow at speed on the generator light and charging has always been good." Kind of confusing... Basically, I don't think that the light should ever glow above the idle point, say 1500 RPM. Actually 13.5v is kinda marginal...

Thanks. To clarify, last year after installing new rotor, brushes, board, and regulator, there ~had~ been no generator light coming on above idle . It was charging well for several hundred miles.

~Now~ , when revving up to 4k, the generator light starts to glow a dull red until the rpm's dropped back to idle.

Diode board checked out as per Rob Frankham's instructions above.

For what I recall, 13.5 volt is what this bike has generally always produced when it's charging.

For many years the /7 gen light at highway speed (noticeable at night) would glow a ~very~ dim red.
