Timely post as this Mother's day weekend, I'm replacing throttle cables on my 1978 R100S recently fitted with the OEM 'S' bars. My new cables are from MAX BMW. The inner cable measures 1027mm. One of the nice features of the MAX parts fiche is the accompanying photos of the parts plus, as with the cables, a metric ruler showing where the length is measured.
When first acquired, the bike had very wide, street tracker looking bars that wrecked havoc on the cables where they enter the adjusters on the 40 mike-mike Bings. Not actually broken but badly bent -to paraphrase an ol' C&W tune. Those damned bars were 7/8" diameter and the PO had hogged out the perches to fit. Grrr The new and proper OEM bars then required new perches as the old 'uns just rotated on the 'S' bars.
