Hi Charlie.Good to hear from you. Thanks for the info , was curious if it would fit as the pictures of the base of the globe looks quite large. Good to hear that it has improved the vision when riding at night. Explorers like yourself are always on the moove. As for me , well that's another story the bike would get bugs on it and i cant have that , pesky little things they are !

Yeah, that sounds very encouraging. I may try them out on my truck as well, as it takes H4's.

I'm still mostly not riding at night. Those 20 watt LED running lights I put on my R65 work great but I know they blind the hell out of everybody else on the road. And turning them off for on-coming traffic is worse than not using them at all! Once a guy kept flashing his high beams at me because I had them on riding on a foggy dark morning. It was OK, I could still see the road.... Yeah I think I'll just try to drive in the day time.

So this fits in the shell without problems? It sounds like this is a really good upgrade worth every penny....

After reading this thread I decided to try some of these LED bulbs too. Bought a set off e-bay (same style as Charlie showed) with the plan of installing them on a couple of my motorcycles. I also bought a new pair of H4 lamps for my 66 Jaguar, without bulbs, as I had spares of those, plus the ones I was going to be removing form the bikes. I tried them first on the Connie, had plenty of room but I just could not get the retaining clip to install for the life of me. Modified it but there just were issues and no alternate retaining method I could come up with. Rather than just fighting it I installed them in the H4 lamps for the Jag,. WOW!!!!! what a difference, no more anemic yellowish light but a nice bright white one.

I would like one for my Triumph, but !!! Positive Earth! Is your Jag positive earth?

LED's can be so stubborn about stuff like that. I screwed around for hours trying to fit some 7" LED beams into my Toyota pickup, which is negative ground. But Toyota doesn't switch between high and low beams like normal people. The ground switches. I didn't feel like re-wiring the whole system so I sent the bulbs back to Summit Racing.

Ed, the positive earth shouldn't be a problem provided you know about it and wire the lamp connection accordingly. I'm sure the Toyota could work with a couple of relays too.

Ed, I switched the Jag over to negative earth long ago. Made putting radios in much easier, in fact made everything easier. Starter doesn't care, generator repolarized, switched leads on coil and amp meter. Heater fan sucked, no difference there either.
I have one of those LED bulbs that is a replacement for your dual element running/ stop bulb. Guess I have to try it on the Triumph to see what it will do on a positive ground, don't expect it to work. When I tried the bulb on the Beemer, I was really disappointed on the lack of lumens, went back to a standard bulb.

As long as polarity is right, it should work fine. LED bulbs just don't work when wired backwards. I had LED directional signals on a Honda and I accidentally wired one of them backwards. It did not hurt the bulb though. When I wired it right, they worked ok.
