Update, the switch was jammed full of snot, several minutes with aviation switch spray took care of that. This is where I should have stopped. The little spring thingy and shiny ball that live in the peg of the kill switch made a bid for freedom, it failed they only made it as far as the bag I slid over the switch gear. The spring remained in place the ball made a break for it. Pia but now it's a slow careful procedure replacing it. Just out of curiosity how is that switch gear removed (other than very carefully) as there are a few pins in there

Update, after much bullshit happening have finally managed to fix the switch. Used one of those big ziplock bags, slit it down the side, fed the switch in and taped up the side that way I could get both hands in. Inserted the peg, spring and ball into place and held the plastic backing up tight. Use a punch that has the indent at the tip, place it over the ball, push down and keep pressure on the kill switch peg at the same time, it slid straight into place (well on the second try it did) certainly beat all of the other efforts. Had one of those " bloody hell" grins on for a couple of hours and called it a day, didn't want to push the luck. Hope this helps someone.

Regards to all. :D

New problem, the 30 year old switch is stuffed, but that's not the problem. Re-adjusted the wiring to the speedo as it was binding when on full lock. When adjusting the length of the wires I now find that the oil pressure light won't come on when the ignition is on. Yet if the bare end touches the handlebars or if you touch the neutral switch wire to it, no problems. Every other function works ok, there is something staring at me but I haven't a clue at this point in time. Could someone push me in the right direction. At this point in time the bike still hasn't been run,iam still hopefully near the end of the wiring:?:

The speedo/tacho is a danmoto digital, looks like one of the round acewell types.

Would this be related to the oil pressure switch being u.s
I haven't changed it and I don't know how long its been since it was
Its only been turned over once, and the light ceased to work afterwards
If the light works when the bare ends touch the handlebars it would indicate an earthing
problem wouldn't it?

I'm no electrickery buff, but earthing was what came to mind. The digital instruments are probably a bit of an unknown to most.

That's right Steve,I've been going quietly going spare trying to nut this out. Rang the guys at Bm Ringwood and he casually says "yeah if the switch is stuffed your light won't work". Didn't take long in the shed to work out that
If I run a wire from the switch currently in the bike to the speedo seperate from the loom it doesn't work same if you use the wiring loom path. But if I run the wire from the switch that was in the 750 to the speedo and rest the switch on the crankcase anywhere "Bingo". Hopefully laughing and a decent sleep.
