Instrument shrouds

The rings/shrouds on my RS/S conversion won't stay put. It looks like a PO has replaced the glass at some point and the indent around the interface between glass and housing is uneven. The shrouds which were on the bike at purchase fell off on journey home from the vendor but luckily I managed not to lose them. They are showing their age, and have lost much of their elasticity.

Interestingly it is recommended to glue them in place when replacing, in which case I see little point in purchasing new replacements.

I've got to go back into the instruments at some point to replace a screw which has escaped from the speedo dial and is rattling around behind the glass... Any suggestions for an appropriate none permanent adhesive in the meantime?

Cheers

Ade

Over the years I've found that a trickle of water can accumulate at 6 o'clock on the dial face and a little may seep down and eventually the soft metal circumference strip deteriorates. With that in mind, I'd be inclined to try some silicone from 4 to 8 o'clock.

I've used Dowsil 732 with success on glass and 'eyebrows' on the instrument cluster. Stays flexible so not permanent.

Thanks both, I've a tube of silicone somewhere I'll dig out.

Glued them on with a multipurpose silicone goo I've had in the freezer for ever...let's see how long they stay put!
