I have some R1100 Brembo 4 pots to put on my rebuild but the black finish is pretty scabby, So what was the original Black finish - Anodize or some sort of paint?
Cheers

Black paint. It's almost a pure flat. That bake-on high-temp charcoal grill paint would probably be very close.

As is with most paints and brake fluid, you'll need to be very cautious of dribbles when bleeding brakes.

They do, but it's almost all glossy. That's the current favored finish for cars.
