I bought a 1973 R75/5 that has a toaster tank on it. I have my doubts it's the original tank... but the previous owner also gave me an extra tank and fenders with the purchase that i KNOW have been repainted (not well either), but I can't quite spot what era or bike they might be from. I"ll throw a few pics up and hopefully I can pool together some answers from you much wiser airheads.

Even just a link to the pics on some other site will work. So far you're just a tease. ;)

If you peel off those emblems you may find the holes for the earlier screw on emblems. Later tanks had the space for the emblem indented. Those look like they are sticking out. Could be a Toaster tank that's had the brackets for the chrome panels removed.

I'm guessing it's from the 90/6 pn 16 11 1 233 862 nla. My guess is based on the bracket for the chrome panels is not there, but as BB says it might have been removed when it was resprayed. Removing the current badge will answer the question. Holes + /5, no holes = /6.

#1 is the earlier /5 tank is pn 16 11 1 232 000 FUEL TANK (from 09/72)

Did these 18 litre tanks come on the 75/6 too? They're in the fiche as such.

Yes, both my '74 and '76 /6 had them. My Toaster tank with screw on emblems has the gap for the under tank master cylinder.

WHY WOULD SOMEONE DO THAT A TOASTER TANK!? They look so sexy. Alright I'll try to take off the badges, any one have some good advice on how to do that gently? They're not in amazing shape, but I don't want to do any damage to them.

ALSO the numbers inside one of the fenders says a BMW logo and then says: 1230480

Replacement logos are readily available. I used some from a BMW car as I thought it may be more durable. They have adhesive on them, but a dap of RTV and taping or using a magnet to hold them while curing seems to work well.
