Intermittent Neutral Light

Upon my move to Oklahoma last year, the neutral light on my '87 R80RT went blank and stayed that way all winter. I grew accustomed to pulling in the clutch to start the bike. When the weather warmed up, it started working regularly. Since it's started cooling off, the light works some times and not other times.

Is this symptomatic of a failing neutral switch?

When the neutral light doesn't work, put a test light on the switch terminals and see if there is power at the switch.
If there is power at the switch, the switch is suspect.
If there is no power at the switch, the green telltale bulb connection might be the problem.

My 81 has a harness connector under the left battery cover about half way up the frame. Unplug it and clean it then try again. I had to use a zip tie to hold mine together.

Thanks for the replies! I shall check both of those this coming week, should the rains hold off a bit.
