Ignition Coil Question

Anyone know if the 6v Bosch ignition coils are the same as the pre 1967 Volkswagen 6v coils? They look identical.
Just curious because I saw some VW Bosch coils on sale for a good price.

They are pretty much the same. I actually used 12V VW coils when I installed an electronic ignition trigger that needed 12V coils wired in parallel rather than 6V coils in series. They fit right into the OG brackets.

The way to be sure that they are equivalent to our original 6 volts coils would be to know what the primary resistance is. From what I've seen of VW coils you'll be up against it trying to get a figure out of the supplier but it's worth a try. Something in the region of 1.2 - 1.5 ohms is what to look for. I have a suspicion that VW 6 volts coils might be higher than that. Even still no question that they'd work it's just whether they are as good as the originals.

Specifications:
1.2 ohms resistance each x 2 wired in series = 2.4 ohms
Input voltage = 6V
Primary resistance = 1.2 ohms
Secondary resistance = 13.84Kohms
Primary inductance = 1.25mH
Voltage output = 40,000 to 50,000 volts

They work, but they are slightly larger diameter than stock. The stock bracket will still work, but you may need longer bolts...

That is a good price. Could you please post a link in case somebody out there wants some?

$46.99 each regular price
Then I applied a 20% 0ff coupon code. The order had to total $100 to get the 20% so I threw in a package of shop towels.

The specs are fine and at $75 a pair they sound like a bargain. All of the UK VW parts outlets charge at least double that.

What are the specs? I couldn't find them. Although the Autozone coils seem to be the same ones offered by Motorrad Elektrik.
