IF anyone does it, you'd probably have to unlace the rim, at which point why not just replace it with good used?

By "brake ring front hub" do you mean putting a disc on a front wheel with a drum brake? If so, you will run into the rim having the holes drilled for a different angle.
The stock /6 drum brake stopped better than the disc brake. It was even admitted in the Federally mandated specs supplied with the bike when new.
Of course, now one can use better parts for the disc and greatly improve it over what was original.

I assumed he was talking about rebuilding or replacing the worn brake surface of a drum brake...

Guess that I wasn't the only one that is confused. I still don't know what he wants.

The 1976 R60 had a drum brake, so I am ASSUMING he is talking about the brake drum getting relined. Either it had lots of miles on it or someone let the shoes wear down to the metal and scored the drum badly. Either way the hub has to be removed for a repair. Best solution is finding a good used hub, re-lace and true the wheel.
a hub just got listed by my favorite BMW seller on e-bay

Great stating price.

jagarra, that is a good assumption, so I stand corrected.
Warning. Once a hub is changed, or laced up again, it will sometimes be drawn slightly out of round. The result is a pulsing brake and that isn't nice. Sometimes we had to have the wheel turned and a thou or two taking off. We made a special set-up for our local brake shop to do this job.

Hey guys.
Yes to the relining of the front drum.
That is what I want to do. And since either way requires a relace I guess the hub replace makes for an "easier" path.
Thanks for the suggestions!
What I am experiencing is what feels like a delayed braking, and what feels like a smooth slide of shoes to ring surface. If it is damp out the shoes will bite in hard and abruptly. I am planning on replacing shoes, and measuring the thickness of that ring to know for sure if it is still in spec or not, but there is only 80k on the bike. When would that ring start to be too thin?
Threw the question out to get a jump on research and planning.
