Hey all,

First post here. I'm looking to join the world of airheads by buying this 1989 R100GS

http://www.autobase.co.nz/motorbikes-fo ... 652207.htm

I've got an had a good look and it seems to be in great condition.

Any idea on how to proceed? Things to check for?

I'm not a GS expert, but at that mileage, you should focus on the the potential big cost airhead items---transmission, final drive splines, valves, timing chain, and ignition, charging, and starter systems, clutch, and, for the GS, the driveshaft. If it's had reasonable lubrication changes, the nikasil cylinders and lower end should be in good shape. The bike certainly looks nice, but you need to know which of these systems have received attention/replacement/rebuild. If no maintenance/repair records on these items are available from this dealer, the price should get lower.

Too many KMs on the clock for this kid. I'd be leery of a bike with that many on it.
