Tach shaft seal replace method

Post by Texer »

Hello,

Re 1970 SWB. I've purchased the tach seal part # 11 31 1256 861 and want to install as part of my Boxer refresh. My question is how to get the helical gear out to replace the seal. I've removed the cable and retaining bolt and then tapped vigorously at it with a brass drive but no movement yet. Is there a procedure for the shaft replacement? Thanks of course.
