Handlebar clamps in forward position on triple tree

Post by MTBer »

I'm installing a set of Renthal handlebars (spent the last hour trying to get 22.2mm bars to fit 22mm controls :x) and would like to move the handlebar mounts more forward on the upper triple tree. There are 2 sets of holes for both the bar clamps and the instrument cluster mounting bracket which tie in together. Problem is the cluster bracket doesn't want to slide forward between the fork tubes because it is too wide. Anyone done this? Am I missing something? It seems very obvious that this is the purpose of the extra hole pattern...

The RS bracket uses the forward mounting holes.
But the height of the instruments is different on the RS and RT than bikes without the large fairings.

I have an RS and wanted a more relaxed riding position with K75S bars. I initially bought an R90S bracket but the height of the instruments was wrong. Then I got the RT bracket and it worked for me.

Not sure if there is any bracket that uses the forward holes other than the RS one.
