I went for a lovely night ride last night, cool and clear and the only thing that spoiled it was the charge light coming on gently, then bright, then off again. No relationship to lights or revs and a new battery too. This is the first time I've had this problem.
Any suggestions ? Diode board or alternator ? Anything else, preferably cheap and simple ?
The flickering, on then off charge light ?

Disconnect battery neg. Front cover off. Check brushes.
Whilst there, clean every connector with appropriate electrical solvent..
That's where I'd start.

+1 - what Steve said.
I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.
