Slash 6 shock rebuild

Post by jimmyg »

So I decided to rebuild the oem shocks on my R90s. I'm down to replacing the rubber bushings at the top and bottom. I know they need to be pressed out but I don't own a press. Is there a way to do this in a vise?

thanks,

Hi, You could use a large socket to support the bushing eyelets /shock retainer and a smaller socket to suit the I.D of old rubber bushing and press the old bushing into the I.D of the large socket.Hell, its easier to show than explain it. Personally i'd find a press and use there's rather than marking the O.E alloy parts.

thanks for the quick reply. That's exactly what I did. It was more work finding the correct sized sockets than the process itself. And it's best to tape up the surrounding area with duct tape to prevent marring.

All good, thanks for your assistance,
