Wiring R75/5

Post by slyngej »

Hi
I was rewiring my 75/5. It has previously been a policebike and several additional relays and other tons of crab had been added to the wiring in the headlight. I've aimed to rewire the thing as the original diagram. It works, except the high beam flicker/dimmer switch. When turned off and no key, i can still flash with the high beam?!
See attached picture.
The green/red wire, which on the diagram is connected to with the large positive wire on the circuit board, see red circle on diagram. Then the high beam can be dimmered with when the bike is turned off.

I've rewired the red/green wire to the circuit board together with the yellow/white high beam wire, see green circle on the diagram.

It works, but does anyone know if any shortcircuits could occur of why in general i had the problem with the original wirering?

My R75/5 headlight will flash the high beam with ignition off, too.

totally normal for it to be hot with the key off.

My R75/5 did it as well as my '74 R90s.

Germans do things for strange reasons sometimes.

If there's anything I hate, it's tons of crab in my wiring.
