Adjusting throttle freeplay

Post by jagarra »

I installed some new throttle cables on my bike today. It sort of went easy until I had this issue come up. I had a lot of free throttle movement until it started moving the cables. I messed with it for a long time, taking the mechanism apart, trying to figure out how to get the excess out. When I adjusted the cables at the carbs I could only get the free play out till it started moving the butterfly. Just when I was coming in to tell my woes to this forum, I thought I would check Duane's site. Sure enough, he had a great write up on adjusting the free play out. I followed the instructions and now no free play, just a smudge before the butterflies start to move. THANKS DUANE!!! :D

Google is a great alternative to thinking it out for yourself and learning diagnostic skills.

Goggling is always usually one of my first methods. But many times it leads to either Duane's page or Snobum's. As far as using data found, well , I trust their methods more than I would from a just someone who just posted their results.
