Does anyone know how to remove the R100/7 badge on the engine? I've got the bike stripped and I'm planning on soda blasting the engine casing and making it new with some Alumi-Sol and Scotch-Brite. I want to polish up and restore the badges to fine detail.
Thanks!

Re: Engine Badge Removal
Those badges will sometimes fall off on their own. What I have experienced is that the foam rubber adhesive strip under the badge deteriorates with time and I suppose heat and humidity. You might want to carefully try a thin putty knife under a corner and see if the badge 'wants' to come off. The badge itself is fairly stiff, which is a good thing. You don't have to worry so much about bending the badge.0m3nc0w wrote:Does anyone know how to remove the R100/7 badge on the engine? For putting the badge back on I have simply cleaned up the deteriorated rubber under the badge and used emblem adhesive to put the badge back on (holding it in place for a while with some strips of masking tape. I think 3M adhesive is what I used. You can emblem adhesive at your local auto parts store.

When installing, be mindful of the fore-aft positioning of the badge. If too far aft, it will make difficult getting off the clamshell air filter cover. DAMHIK.

Some heat and then drag some fishing line under it might work.

Re: Engine Badge Removal
I found painting them in place, then sanding the paint off the surface of the letters, with a sanding block, looks terrific.

SteveD has it right. Some heat will do it. They will bend and will never be really flat again. Don't ask how I know that.
