Unknown R100 Electrical Part

Post by 0m3nc0w »

Wondering if anyone knows if this (flashing yellow part) is OEM or not? It looks sort of like a speaker. I've removed the fastener to access the battery so it's dangling, but it was fastened on the left side of the bike just behind the battery cover. I'm suspicious that it isn't OEM because I can't imagine BMW using a sheet metal screw and a rust susceptible mild steel L-Bracket to fasten something like this.

I've labeled a couple things in the picture for orientation purposes. If anyone knows what this is please let me know.

'78 R100/7 right? The is the buzzer for the turn signals...it is OEM. If the signals are left on with the bike in gear, the buzzer will beep. If you pull in the clutch hand lever or shift to neutral, the beeping will stop.

It's not a bug...it's a feature!!
