G'day Mates,
I'm going to work on the clutch shortly and am a bit confused about wether I need the three long bolts
to remove the clutch plate etc, from the carrier. Clymer Manual seems to say to just remove
the six bolts. Is this true for the clutch carrier models?
Also I have noticed a little bit of shiny metal on the gearbox drain plug, should I be as worried as I am?

I would mark all the clutch parts B4 youtake it apart, with your bike you do not need the long bolts.

Thanks fellars, will mark the parts befor unbolting.

Shiny metal on the plug can be perfectly normal. If the fuzz feels chunky, that's very bad. If it feels very fine in texture, then it's from normal wear.

Do you already have the pilot tool for reassembling the clutch?

Then I got the clutch out this morning, it took a bit due to an allen head being rounded out, new bolts I guess,
A big question is should the pushrod go through the pressure plate like this?

And, is the pushrod reuseable if I get a new pressure plate?

Re the gearbo, I'm still uneasy though it does'nt sound to bad. I've made this clutch tool out of
hardwood, hope it works.

The clutch friction plate spline looks a bit or'nery Bob!
That pushrod looks a little different to my 81, but if your clutch was working ok, it must be right........
Looks like a good time to change those oil seals!

here's the proper tool. you'll nned the pin to be 6mm diameter and long enough to pass through the spring into the center of the flywheel adapter thingie.

G'day Bob. Looks like you need a new engine rear main seal and a gearbox input shaft seal. For clutch parts check out Motobins prices - you'll get them at about half Munich's price, delivered. Give the ol' R80 a pat from me.
