R80 Cam gear

Post by sprints@pldi.net »

I have a 73 r75 with a 78 r80 engine - I want to use the old style headlight with the speedo / tach unit. How can I arrange the r80 cam to drive the tach? I know I'll need the earlier alternator case but what about the cam and drive gear - can it be adapted? Thanks - Rod

An alternative is to get a Speedhut GPS speedo and tach unit. Here's one posted by a bloke on ADV:

Check out the Speedhut website. You can customise colours, fonts, graphics, day and night appearance, etc.
I have one of their GPS speedos on my bike and am delighted with it. It was easy to wire in and is very smooth and accurate. Might save you a lot of bother.
