R90S/R100S restorers wanted for Practical Sportsbikes magazi

Post by finbar »

Hi all,

One of our regular restorers' tips features set to run in the next couple of issues will be about R100S and R90S restorers and we're looking for a few owners who have restored/rebuilt these models to help out. It would involve a chat on the phone (or email if you prefer) and you supplying a high res photo of you with your bike to go with your words of wisdom.

We're after standard-ish bikes and we're looking for hints/tips/advice/techniques - anything that might help encourage would-be restorers to have a go themselves.

If you'd be up for helping, you can contact me via email at gingersgaff@btinternet.com or on 07875 736021.

Many thanks for any help you can provide.

All the best,

I don't know if you're going to be monitoring this post, but you should contact Ounni Krishnan Pillai on Facebook. He used to post here as "Indian," and he did a beautiful and complete R90S restoration with great photo documentation. Even did the Daytona Orange paint job himself.

I will let him know about this post and he may contact you.

Hi Steve. I suppose my R90S did polish up pretty good in the end considering how it was when i purchased it all of those years ago. If all goes well with the last bit of work on it (more parts from the USA) , it should be ready to fire up.But i have to admit i've forgotten a lot thou. But reading a lot of posts here it comes flooding back.

I can vouch for the quality of 2valve's restoration. Pics from 2009.

Hi Charlie. Thanks for the compliment, the bike was a tad dirty that day it needed a good clean, should see it now its been detailed and gave it a cuddle also  . If all goes well with the parts from the USA i'll post an update picture, no doubt with Steve D or Robs help.
