R65 GS Turn signal issue

Post by dannydk »

Turn signal on the left handlebar only works by the same time activate high beam.So either I can give signal and blind another in the traffic, or does not blink at all.

I have separated handle, no wires or soldering is bad, cleaned with contact cleaner. No luck. I am considering to buy a new handle. But at a cost of £ 73.50 plus shipping for a Handlebar switchgear left hand I would make an attempt to fix it, or at least the rest assured that the contact is broken and not a relay or other.

Some who have experienced the same thing and found a solution?

As your inspection of the left-side switch assembly showed no wiring flaws, it's time to begin tracing and confirming correct wiring in the direction of both the turn signal and inside the headlight bucket.

Is this a recent occurrence or has this issue been around for awhile? You might be dealing with a problem created by a PO doing a bit of shade tree modifications. Snowbum has wiring diagrams within his website. A shop manual, Haynes, Clymer or both would be helpful.

Good hunting!
