In truth it saddens me to see a nice bike that's been neglected. My '76 R90S had led a hard life before I got hold of it:



Following what I can only assume was crash damage in the early '80s someone fitted a later, Smoke Red fairing, duct taped the instrument casing together and rattle-canned the bodywork white...it stayed that way until I bought it in 2007. Thing is the engine and gearbox are untouched (and at 71,000 miles the bike runs way smoother than my lower mileage '74 bike) so in the main I only needed to address cosmetic issues. Even so, I spent more buying and restoring that bike than I'd have had to spend on a nice clean example in ride-away condition. If I'd had to source missing parts, and strip the engine and gearbox down etc. I'd have been in a very deep hole, economically speaking, sustained only by my belief that returning a classic airhead to the road was more spiritual quest than sound financial proposition, and I ain't going there again...

Well it sold for £2,642.89...

Which is around $4,113.97 US or $3,930.55 AUD.



Personally I think that's an insane amount of money for a bike in that condition.

Given that one of Keith Shaws R90s s go for around £7-8K, after a ground up restoration, that is a serious amount of cash, the wreck looks as if it is missing much of the hard to find R90/s bling.....
